Traditionally, revegetation ground reclamation work starts by properly preparing the area to be revegetated. Using topsoil from the site is best for revegetation if it was properly removed and stored onsite prior to construction.

Unfortunately, more often than not there is little to no salvageable topsoil available onsite due to the topsoil not being removed and stored properly, so it has intermixed with subsoils due to the construction activities. Therefore, revegetation takes place on marginal topsoil/subsoil providing negligeable results if any, unless topsoil is brought in. When topsoil is deemed necessary to be brought in, the cost associated with transportation and labour can be expensive. Never mind the risk of the possibility of the introduction of weeds, pathogens, pesticides, and/or even heavy metals.

IS THERE A MORE LOGICAL SOLUTION THAN HAULING IN TOPSOIL?

The answer is “YES”. Hydroseeding Biotic Soil Amendments (Engineered Hydraulic Growth Mediums)

Onsite topsoil/subsoil contain 95% of the components required for revegetation but only the organic structure is missing. So, when topsoil is brought in, we are hauling in 95% of the material we already have available onsite only to get the 5% organic material required for good revegetation. Biotic Soil Amendments are specifically designed to reintroduce the missing 5% of organic material needed to kick start the building of topsoil through agronomical expertise by combining the best organic matter, erosion control fibers, micro and macro nutrients, beneficial bacteria and fungi into the topsoil/subsoil we already have onsite.

Biotic Soil Amendment hydroseeding brings soil/plant science, chemistry, and erosion control expertise to your project to improve vegetation establishment and sustainability while reducing the environmental impact associated with the hauling in of topsoil from parts unknown which reduces your risk. Therefore, if a site requires both soil revitalization, revegetation and you are absolutely certain that the onsite soil being used for revegetation contains the essentials elements needed to establish plant growth, you can’t afford not to use a Biotic Soil Amendment (BSA) hydroseeding as an innovative cost saving solution compared to hauling in and spreading topsoil.

REMEMBER IMPORTING TOPSOIL MEANS

• Higher Costs • Higher Erosion Risk • Higher Liability • More Work • More Time • Less Profit
