Erosion and Sediment Control Products

Erosion Control Products have recently been divided into one of two categories. Rolled erosion control and Re-vegetation hydraulic mulch erosion control.

  1. Rolled erosion control products are the traditional Erosion Control Blankets (ECB's), Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRM's) and Slope Interruption Devices (SID's).

  2. Re-vegetation erosion control products are high performance hydraulic mulches Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM), Fiber Reinforced Matrix (FRM), Engineered Fiber Matrix (EFM), Flexible Growth Medium (FGM) and/or Stabilized Mulch Matrix (SMM). They have additional special bonding agents designed to withstand extreme slopes and weather activity. When compared against the standard hydraulic mulches comprised of paper and/or wood fibers.

Rolled Erosion Control Products are a machine manufactured products that have the ability to control and/or preventing the effects of erosion on exposed soil and sediment from land development and human activities by wind and/or water in is an essential part of construction and land reclamation process.

Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs) are a machine manufactured mat of clean straw and/or Coconut combined with light, photodegradable, bio-degradable, or rapid degradation netting (single or double netting) that keeps the soil in place. This combination produces strong and effective natural organic netting that protects vulnerable areas on projects with moderate slope or waterways from all weather conditions, while providing ideal growing conditions for all types of grasses, ground covers and vegetation. The blankets are designed to protect seed and soils for up to 12 months.

  • Our ECB’s are available in a wide variety of conveniently sized rolls.

    • S32:          A short-term double net straw fiber erosion control blanket designed for use on moderate slope and channel applications requiring erosion control for up to 12 months depending on moisture, light, and environmental conditions. The S32 meets all requirements established in the FHWA FP-03 as a Type 2D erosion control blanket for use on slopes with gradients not exceeding 2H:1V. Different sized rolls are available with 83.7 m2, 167.2 m2, 418 m2, and 836.1 m2 per roll.

    • SC32:          An extended-term double net straw/coconut fiber erosion control blanket designed for use on severe slope and channel applications requiring erosion control for up to 24 months depending on moisture, lights, and environmental conditions. The SC32 meets all requirements established in the FHWA FP-03 as a Type 3B erosion control blanket for use on slopes with gradients not exceeding 1-5H:1V. Different sized rolls are available with 83.61 m2, 167.2 m2, 418 m2, and 836.1 m2 per roll.

Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) are designed to provide pre-vegetative erosion control, as well as reinforcement once vegetation has established. They can be used in a variety of severe applications; including extreme slopes, shorelines, high flow channels, and ditch beds. TRMs are becoming extremely popular to use in place of hard armor (rock or concrete) for environmental, economical and aesthetic reasons. The TRMs are designed to be permanent. Our TRMs provide a more visually appealing landscape that is safer for people to be around.

  • Our TRM’s are available in a wide variety of conveniently sized rolls.

    • 7003:          A lighter weight turf reinforcement mat that is a cost-effective solution to provide protection of moderate slopes or where flow conditions exceed the limits of natural vegetation.

    • 7010:          Futerra® 7010 is a three-dimensional turf reinforcement mat comprised of continuous monofilaments fused at their intersections. Ninety-five (95%) percent is open and available for soil, mulch and root interaction, creating one of the most effective mats available. Manufactured from nylon to eliminate the buoyancy factor associated with submerged conditions and provides permanent protection in vegetated channels and slope sand banks with expected shear stresses ≤ 3.3 psf on moderate to steep slopes (≤1H:1V). Can be used as a substrate for hydraulically applied Flexible Growth Medium™ (FGM) and Engineered Fiber Matrix™ (EFM) to create the GreenArmor™ System.

    • 7020:          Futerra® 7020 is a three-dimensional turf reinforcement mat comprised of continuous monofilaments fused at their intersections. Ninety-five (95%) percent is open and available for soil, mulch and root interaction, creating one of the most effective mats available. Manufactured from nylon to eliminate the buoyancy factor associated with submerged conditions and provides permanent protection in vegetated channels and slope sand banks with expected shear stresses ≤ 17.5 psf on moderate to steep slopes (≤0.5H:1V). Can be used as a substrate for hydraulically applied Flexible Growth Medium™ (FGM) and Engineered Fiber Matrix™ (EFM) to create the GreenArmor™ System.

Slope Interruption Devices are a machine manufactured products that keeps the soil in place. This combination produces strong and effective natural organic netting that protects vulnerable areas on projects with slopes.

  • Our Slope Interruption Devices are available in a wide variety of conveniently sized rolls.

Re-Vegetation Erosion Control products conform to the contours of the ground and dries to form an erosion control barrier that can be hydrated repeatedly and will hold soil and seed without washing away. As vegetation takes hold, the mulch slowly decomposes to enrich the soil. They are effective for slopes and/or grades of Flat to 1H: 1V and with additional erosion control support products slopes > 1H:1V are feasible

High performance Hydraulic Mulches.

  • Soil Guard® conforms to the contours of the ground and dries to form a Bonded Fiber Matrix. Once dry, the matrix can be hydrated repeatedly and will hold soil and seed without washing away.

  • Flex Guard® Fiber Reinforced Matrix (FRM) with pasteurized wood fibers, dispersible synthetic fibers and exclusive soil-bonding agents for immediate and effective erosion protection on challenging terrain even during hard rains. This product can be used for any slopes including 1:1.

  • ProMatrix™ with patented Engineered Fiber Matrix™ (EFM™) technology was created to give you an edge when bidding on jobs requiring BFM/SMM hydraulic products.

  • Flexterra® Flexible Growth Medium™ (FGM™) is designed using patented technology that immediately bonds to the soil, providing slope protection superior to rolled Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs) and Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) products. It has rapidly set a new standard of excellence for controlling erosion and establishing vegetation on slopes.

  • HydroStraw® HE Bonded Fiber Matrix is designed to be more cost effective than blankets and cost less to apply per acre than conventional BFM mulches on difficult sites, slopes, and adverse soil conditions where extra erosion prevention is needed.

Sediment Control Products are a machine manufactured products that have the ability to control and filter storm water runoff and soluble pollutants (such as phosphorus and petroleum hydrocarbons), on and around construction sites

Premade Filter Socks:     Premade socks are three-dimensional tubular sediment control and storm water runoff filtration device typically used for perimeter control of sediment and soluble pollutants (such as phosphorus and petroleum hydrocarbons), on and around construction activities. Sediment control traps sediment and soluble pollutants by filtering runoff water as it passes through the matrix of the Sediment control and by allowing water to temporarily pond behind the Sediment control, allowing deposition of suspended solids. Sediment control is also used to reduce runoff flow velocities on sloped surfaces.

  • Our Premade Filter Socks are available in 8”, 12” and 18”

Stenlog:     Are elongated tubes of compacted straw and/or other fibers wrapped in rapid degradable tubular polypropylene plastic netting. They are used for temporary erosion and sediment control applications and is commonly installed along the contours or at the base of a slope to help reduce soil erosion and retain sediment. Stenlogs are designed to allow runoff/water to penetrate through the fiber while reducing sediment migration. In additions they also function as slope interruption devices and therefore shorten slope lengths reducing runoff velocity and the potential for sheet erosion and rill formation when used in conjunction with Hydroseeding of Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM), Fiber Reinforced Matrix (FRM), and erosion control blankets to further reduce erosion and sediment migration.

  • Our Stenlog's are available in a wide variety of conveniently sized rolls.

Terra Tube: Terra-Tubes are the industry’s most cost effective storm water treatment device. designed to effectively trap, filter and treat sediment-laden runoff while reducing hydraulic energy. Terra tubes are used for sediment control applications and is commonly installed along the contours or at the base of a slope to help reduce soil erosion and retain sediment. Terra tubes are designed to effectively trap, filter and treat sediment-laden runoff while reducing hydraulic energy and allow runoff/water to penetrate through the fiber while reducing sediment migration.
