HYDROSEEDING MULCHES

There are multiple manufactures of hydroseeding mulches offering a wide variety and types of mulches. Hydroseeding mulch Is the most critical element of the hydroseeding process. When cured the mulch stabilizes the soil, keeps the seed in place, retains moisture, maintains temperature during the seed’s germination period and also protects the seed from the elements. Therefore, choosing the right mulch is imperative for success.

 

Recently in an effort to limit confusion with regards to mulch the industry has divided them into 2 distinct categories.

 

STANDARD MULCHES   Standard hydroseeding mulches are primarily designed for (Re-vegetation) and are comprised of paper and/or wood fibers which hold the seed in place, insulate it from temperature fluctuations and retain moisture to enhance germination. The have minimal erosion capabilities and should not be used on slope/grades > 3:1 without additional erosion control products.

  • CELLULOSE MULCH:                           Is made from recycled newspaper can be used on virtually any slope/grade from flat to < 3H:1V but has minimal to “NO” water retention and/or erosion control capabilities without additives such as tackifier and interlocking fibers.

  • WOOD/PAPER BLENDS:    Provide better soil bonding and moisture retention than cellulose mulch and can be used on virtually any slope/grade of flat to < 3H:1V. With additional erosion control measures, they can be used on slopes of < 1H:1V.

  • Cellulose Mulch: Is our most cost effective mulch and is successfully used in all conditions and terrains, wherever revegetation is required. Available in 40 and 50 pound bales

All Ontario Hydroseeding - Seed Aide® CoverGrow

  • Seed Aide® CoverGrow™:  Is an advanced technology granular mulch made from recycled wood, cellulose fibers and tackifier. Successfully used in all conditions and terrains, wherever revegetation is required. Available in 40 pound bags​

​HIGH PERFORMANCE MULCHES  High Performance hydroseeding mulches are primarily designed for (Erosion Control) and are comprised of paper and/or wood fibers along with additional bonding agents designed to withstand extreme slopes and weather conditions. This advanced technology helps hold the soil and seed in place, insulate it from temperature fluctuations and retain moisture to enhance germination. They have the capabilities to be used on virtually any slope/grade < 1:1 without the use of additional Turf Reinforcement Mats and/or Slope Interruption Devices.

We do not stock large quantities of high performance mulches but have the ability to access almost every high performance mulch available with quick turnarounds.​
