WATERING
The importance of proper watering during the first 21-35 days after seeding and/or sodding cannot be over emphasized. To ensure proper germination and establishment of a newly seeded area and/or the knitting of a newly sodded area.
HYDROSEEDING:
-
“Allow” 24 hours for the slurry to cure (dry) after the application before watering. This gives the mulch the opportunity to properly bond to the soil. Upon starting the watering program, the entire area must be watered every day.
-
You do not want puddling and/or runoff, just enough to thoroughly moisten the seed bed. This period of watering should be no longer then 7-14 days.
-
Once the seed germinates, we advise you to water for longer periods of time but less often. This will train the roots to “chase” water by growing deeper making for a healthier and stronger plant.
-
After germination if we recommend you water for 35 minutes every 2 days.
-
The water should seep down to almost a 1/2 inch. The next day the roots will be looking for water so they will grow deeper to find it.
-
If you water every day the roots will not have to grow deep to find the water. So, this means the roots will not be trained to survive drought making for a weakened plant.
-
-
30 days after hydroseeding you want to water deeply and infrequently to achieve at least 1″ of water a week. We feel the best time to water is starting at sunrise and be finished by mid-morning. This is important especially during hot humid weather.
BROADCAST (DRY) SEEDING:
-
“Allow” 24 hours for after the application before watering. This gives the seed the opportunity to properly bond to the soil. Upon starting the watering program, the entire area must be watered every day.
-
You do not want puddling and/or runoff, just enough to thoroughly moisten the seed bed. This period of watering should be no longer then 7-14 days.

SODDING:
-
“Immediately” after the installation begin watering. This gives the sod the opportunity to properly settle into the soil. Upon starting the watering program, the entire area must be watered every day.

DROUGHT CONDITIONS:
-
We do not recommend hydroseeding, broadcast (Dry) seeding and/or sodding being done during drought conditions; however if done, we recommend setting up hoses as an irrigation system.
-
We recommend to set it to as many cycles as possible (4-6 times a day) until germination and/or knitting, then reduce.
-
Set 8-minute cycles starting at 8am, 10am 12pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm. The times may vary as you do not want puddling and runoff but enough to thoroughly moisten the area.
